Unlocking the True Value of Soil – Our Primary Asset

Soil is our primary asset. It is the living, breathing foundation of every agricultural and landscape investment—a complex microbiome that must be nurtured to sustain farmer productivity, sustainable agricultural systems and long-term value.

One of the most powerful indicators of soil health is Soil Organic Matter (SOM). Building SOM levels delivers multiple benefits: stronger yields, improved resilience, enhanced land value, and credible sustainability reporting. Yet historically, soil has been difficult to measure with precision.

Innovations in Soil Measurements

Thanks to new data modelling techniques, it is now possible to gain a rich, detailed picture of SOM by measuring Soil Organic Carbon (SOC) levels at an unprecedented scale. By disrupting traditional soil measurement approaches, our methodology delivers SOC measurements at 10 m resolution, every 10 days, from 2017 to the present day. This approach combines vast ground-based datasets with frequent satellite observations, creating empirical models that capture both farm-level variability and seasonal changes driven by weather. Aligning with leading global standards, our methodology has been applied across more than 60 million hectares in 22 countries.

Why SOC Data Matters for Farmers and Landowners

The value of accurate, scalable and affordable SOC measurements is immense. For farmers and landowners it offers:

  • Data-driven farming: Nine years of continuous data reveals “what works where,” empowering smarter crop rotations and sustainable land management practices
  • Sustainability reporting: Stakeholders gain credible proof of carbon removals and regenerative practices
  • Long-term profitability: Healthier soils drive stronger returns and long-term farm profitability and resilience
  • Asset value increase: Land value increases when backed by robust evidence of soil health

Transforming Asset Value

Increasing land value with robust evidence of soil health has even greater benefits for investors and land buyers. A nine-year record of SOC provides a clear picture of how land has been managed, whether degraded or healthy, so that there is no longer any need to rely on historic yield data, which may be artificially inflated by synthetic fertilisers. Best of all, this rich dataset is delivered simply and cost-effectively, whether for small properties or large estates. By making advanced soil insights accessible to all, we are accelerating the global transition towards sustainable land management – together!
